Located at 33 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Museum of Folk Culture is a well-known destination with incredibly picturesque architecture which attracts thousands of tourists coming every year.

Museum of Folk Culture Hoi An has two floods all of which made from wood. In the past, the main door of the Folklore Museum overlooks the Hoai River to be convenient to trade. “Hoai” meaning “retro” which is a beautiful name was well-off commerce and cultural exchanges during the late 17th century have many boats carrying goods from merchants throughout the world such as Westen countries, China, Japan, India ….Nowadays, one side overlooks Nguyen Thai Hoc stress, the other looks strange Bach Dang river.

Thanks to cultural activities and mass media that bring the long-lasting history of culture, the creativity and unique characteristics of the ancient locals kept in this house to get closer to domestic and foreign holidaymakers.

Museum of Folk Culture has been opened with the view to serving tourism purpose since March 3rd, 2005 and gradually become one of the well-known destinations in Hoi An urban attract a thousand of visitors.

The house has a wide area, over 400m2, this is definitely an ideal space to display antiquity. Nowadays, this museum presents 483 exhibits representing 4 typically main art of the ancients. There are the shaping art, the performing art, conventional craft villages,  traditional community’s activities. All of 483 objects on display are almost original and have a life expectancy of over 10 decades.

The 1st flood of the museum is not only used for performing arts activities and but also being on display significant products which came from traditional villages such as silk fabric, pottery, lanterns and painting papers, along with traditional and wedding costumes of the Chinese, the Vietnamese in general, especially the local residents. These products engrave a beautiful daily life of authentic Vietnamese culture to international friends. The ancient house with a popular feature which you may easily recognize almost building in the old town- yin and yang tile roof -along with antique stairs and pillars made of wood create an old atmosphere full of rustic charm surrounded the museum.
