Vietnam receives Asia’s Leading Destination Award for the second consecutive year

VHO - On October 12th, 2019, at Vinpearl Convention Center (Phu Quoc), the 26th World Travel Awards – WTA for Asia and Oceania in 2019 was being held.

This year, Vietnam continues to receive Asia’s Leading Destination Award from WTA.

Giving a welcoming speech at the ceremony, Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh affirmed: Currently Vietnam is among the world fastest-growing tourism economies thanks to numerous spectacular natural landscapes, and also one of the most enchanting tourism destinations all over the planet. In 2018, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million international tourist arrivals, almost doubling the 2015 statistics, with an average annual increase of 30%, making up over 8.3% of the nation’s GDP. In the year of 2019, Vietnam Tourism hopes to welcome 17.5-18 million international tourist arrivals and is aiming to gradually become a spearhead economic sector of the country.

More than 50 top brands and tourist attractions in Asia and Oceania were being honored at WTA’s 2019 top Asia Awarding Ceremony. Vietnam was nominated in over 200 different awarding categories, including nominations in national brands, travel agencies and travel services.

Among those, Vietnam was honored to receive 4 awards for national brands, including: Asia’s Leading Destination 2019, Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination 2019, Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2019, Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2019 – Hoi An. 

This is the second consecutive year Vietnam Tourism has achieved the title Asia’s Leading Destination. Specially, although being globally held in high regard for long, for the first time ever Vietnam culinary culture has received such a prestigious, world-class award and is now recognized as Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination 2019.

WTA has chosen Vietnam as the venue for Asia-Oceania WTA more than once

Within the framework of the awarding ceremony, Director General Nguyen Trung Khanh answered an interview with Breaking Travel News Channel about the achievements and goals of Vietnam Tourism Industry in the upcoming time.

Besides, WTA also announced that Vietnam Tourism was nominated in 6 categories ‘World’s Leading’, including nomination for World’s Leading Culinary Destination 2019.

Another good news for Vietnam Tourism Industry is that Vietnam is being the number one candidate for Asian Leading Golf Destination in the framework of World Golf Awards 2019, which is going to be held on October 29th, 2019 in Abu Dhabi. Before that, Vietnam Vietnam has achieved this award two years in a row.

With its enchanting attractiveness, this is the second consecutive year Vietnam won Asia’s Leading Destination Award

That Vietnam is nominated in various global categories (not only regional categories as in previous years) proves the increasing attractiveness of Vietnam Tourism on the world’s tourism map in recent time. This is also a precious opportunity to  strongly promote Vietnam’s image to the whole tourism community all over the world.

WTA is an annual award held since the year 1993, ‘til now it has become the world’s leading award to show appreciation for outstanding achievements of the tourism industry, such as: passenger carriers, airports, hotels, resorts, travel agencies, tourist attractions, etc.

This year is the 26th time WTA organizes voting and awarding activities. Regional and continental awarding ceremonies will take place all over the world before the global ceremony is held in Muscat, Oman on November 28th, 2019.

In World’s Leading nominations, Vietnam is nominated in 6 categories, including:
