Located in the South of Vietnam, Binh Thuan Province, the bustling port city of Phan Thiet, is well-known for its riverside fishing harbour dotted with brightly painted boats and the breathtaking sand dunes of Mui Ne. The beautiful coastline also attracts a large number of tourists seeking sun and beach. Travel from Ho Chi Minh to Phan Thiet – Mui Ne and explore the province of Binh Thuan filled with stunning natural landscapes, following our 1-day Binh Thuan itinerary below.
Kick off the day early and head to the fishing village to enjoy the sunrise. Local fishermen sell lots of seafood captured directly from the nearby seaside. The picturesque vivid view of the sea here is the signified scene of Mui Ne.
After having breakfast in Mui Ne market or Ham Tien market, explore the vivid Fairy Stream located in the nearby district of Ham Tien. This touristy red creek is known for its distinct mountain shapes and ankle-deep stream colored by the clay and limestone particles.
It’s quite pleasant to walk by the stream. Keep in mind to bring sandals or flip-flop when visiting the fairy stream, as you don’t want your shoes to get soaked.
After lunch, hurry and drive to the White Sand Dune (a.k.a Bau Trang), which is about 30 kilometers away from the stream. The white sand dune is a famous sight, regarding adventure travel, to experience sledging, riding an ATV or Jeep car.
Going in groups to the sand dune to rent a jeep car for unlimited hours is a much affordable option than going by yourself. Before hopping on an ATV, you will receive instruction and guidance on how to ride.
You can also go kayaking after the fun expedition above the hills.
Besides the White Sand Dune, Red Sand Dune is also an ideal place to experience sledging and enjoy the sunset.
Vietnam Railways has recently launched the daily five-star train track between Ho Chi Minh and Nha Trang via Phan Thiet . From Phan Thiet, you can take a commuting bus or taxi to Mui Ne.
Bus tickets are offered on the train upon arrival. It is recommended to stay in hotels within Mui Ne, as it’s closer to the seaside and other must-visit sights within Binh Thuan Province.
